Mechano-X Institute (THUM) at Tsinghua University was established on April 26th 2024, under the leadership of Professor Huajian Gao. Mechano-X Institute (THUM) is positioned at the forefront of research in mechanomaterials, a novel research paradigm at the intersection of mechanics, materials science, and biology, which centers on mechanics while focusing on materials. The Institute's vision is to leverage fundamental mechanics principles—particularly the relationships between force, geometry, and material properties—combined with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence techniques. Our ultimate goal is to proactively design innovative materials and regulate biological systems, achieving targeted functionality for a wide array of applications.
